Backstock: What It Is and How It Works

Your First Backstock Shipment

When you sign up with sojo, we’ll send you an initial backstock shipment based on your portfolio size, your market, and the current season.

We call this your Target Inventory—the ideal amount of extra product to keep on hand at any given time.

We’ve helped set this up for hundreds of managers of all shapes and sizes and will recommend the best setup based on what we’ve seen work best. If there are specifics about your business and market that we should take into account, it’s easy to adjust this as we work together.

What’s “Target Inventory”?

Target Inventory is the amount of backstock we recommend you keep on hand at all times. Think of it as your fully stocked shelf—the right number of products to cover unexpected turns, guest needs, or last-minute bookings.

It’s based on:

• The number of homes you manage
• Your market
• Seasonal demand
• Your usage trends over time

If your shelves are running low, we’ll automatically replenish. If they’re constantly too full or too empty, we can adjust.

You don’t have to track it—we do that for you. You just keep the shelf full, and we’ll make sure it stays that way.

How Replenishment Works

We monitor your reservation calendar and product usage behind the scenes. If a last-minute booking pops up and you didn’t get a Turn Day Kit in time, we assume you pulled from backstock.

Once we see your inventory drop below your target, we’ll automatically trigger a replenishment shipment to top you back up.

You’ve Got Flexibility

Backstock is designed to work your way. If you ever feel like you’ve got too much or not enough on hand, we can adjust your Target Inventory anytime.

You can also flex by season. Keep more on hand during summer peaks or holiday surges, then scale back when things slow down. Just let us know what you need—we’ll handle the rest.
